The video presents a sequence of desiccated and yellowish preserved Scadoxus multiflorus leaves of striking beauty and translucency. The leaf stalks of this bulbar plant, also known as the Imperial Crown or Salmon Lily, have long inhabited the artist’s watch. They were archived almost a year ago. Now they reach the video format, manipulated from visual and poetic research that intends to dialogue with the resilience necessary for life, particularly that of the difficult time of the present evidenced by social isolation.
The complex design of the exposed veins structure in backlit images reminds us of this state’s fragility as much as the foreshadowing of its metamorphosis.
Accompanied by a text poem, the images invoke resistance to the various dryness(es) of life and the potential changes suggested by the surroundings.
